Whole-Home Electric Vehicle
Charging Rates

PNM is excited to offer a convenient, low-cost electricity rate to charge your EV.

We currently estimate that a “full tank” for an EV charging in PNM’s service territory will cost about the same as a single gallon of gas for customers who are enrolled in the Whole-Home EV (WHEV) Rate Program and who charge between the hours of 10 pm – 5 am.

Whole-Home Electric Vehicle Charging Rate Application

Before you get started, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Applications for participation must be completed by an authorized account holder

  • Your current rate will remain in effect until we replace your meter and make the rate change effective in our billing system.

  • We encourage you to review PNM's Whole-Home EV (WHEV) Rate before submitting your application for the pilot program. All electric consumption outside of WHEV charging hours will be billed at the applicable Residential 1A block rate.

Net Metering (Solar) Customers

Special consideration should be taken by customers currently participating in PNM's net metering rates, such as residential solar customers. In order to offer this pilot rate, the overnight hours must be accounted for separately, which means that solar production and home consumption are accounted for only during the time periods in which they occur. Since there is little to no solar production from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM during most of the year, this means that little to no energy accounted for in the WHEV pilot rate overnight period will be offset by solar production. All other consumption and production from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM will continue to be metered as net metering customers are accustomed to.
